Becoming a sponsor
- Means offering a child a chance to grow up in good health.
- Means providing access to education and life in decent sanitary conditions.
- Means that the child you sponsor will have access to the basic fundamental rights that should be available to all children: housing, food, health and education.
- In the case of individual sponsorship, it is to establish a special bond with a child, which will give him/her confidence and hope.
How much does a sponsorship cost?
You can choose the monthly amount you wish to pay (25 CHF, 50 CHF, 75 CHF or 125 CHF).
If you choose the highest one (CHF 125 per month) – which is the real cost for the care of a child- you will sponsor this child exclusively.
If you choose to sponsor a child for less than CHF 125/month, we make sure we can find one or two other godparents in order to complete the child’s expenses.
In the case of the Punarbal centre, you sponsor a child, without us telling you his or her name. The sponsorship is concrete, but without any direct link with the sponsored child.

Sponsorship is a commitment
This is a long-term commitment. Sponsoring a child is a commitment that will see them through all their schooling.
It means you can visit the child and see for yourself the life conditions of the child, and understand the benefits of a sponsorhip, as well as see children who are always happy to meet the person that helps them.
Throughout your sponsorship, you will be informed of the evolution of the centres by newsletter and on social networks (Facebook and Instagram).
Keeping in touch with the child you sponsor
As far as the Sagarmatha Centre is concerned, you can get in touch with the child you sponsor and you can write to them as much as you like. Getting news from someone, however distant they might be, can be very meaningful to the children.
Don’t hesitate to send pictures of yourself and your family, where you live, etc. Mail takes a week or two to be delivered. As a precaution, we recommend you don’t send large packages that might attract attention.
We organize visits to the project once a year in the spring. If you wish, we can deliver mail to the children when we go.
But you can also keep touch by sending an email to the child you sponsor at sassnp@gmail.com with the child’s complete name in the subject line of the email.
PLEASE NOTE that the children do not read or understand French so you must write to them in English.
In order to be fair to all the children, we would ask you to NOT send money directly to the child you sponsor. When we are there, we do group purchases to benefit everyone and, depending on donations, we take the children on outings.
