Our 2015 annual report is now available online
2015 was marked by the terrible earthquake in Nepal for which we provided CHF 6,600 in emergency aid. This made it possible to buy tents and bags of rice for the victims. The balance of EUR 11,185 has been set aside for the renovation work to be carried out on the old building. What’s more, an economic blockade was imposed on Nepal, which has weakened the economic situation in the country even further. 14 children returned to their families or are pursuing studies outside of the orphanage and 11 little ones were taken in.
Apart from our efforts after the earthquake, some of the highlights of our work included:
- organising a benefit concert with Hervé Lamy and Patricia Heidsieck in March
- running three stalls (two at the International School of Geneva and a third at the UN Refugee Agency in Geneva)
- coordinating and developing the sale of pashminas
- organising two sessions of the Committee and one annual general meeting
- making a start on organising a trip by the International School of Geneva in the spring of 2016
- continuing our communication campaign and search for new sponsors
- buying a new 4×4 service vehicle for the centre thanks to two outstanding donations
